End of Semester Account/Machine Maintenance

The end of the semester is here and the machines are starting to get bogged down. To that end, the following will occur before the NMC opens in January:

1. All user accounts will be DELETED.
2. The hard drives WILL NOT be wiped clean, only accounts will be removed.
3. General software and hardware updates will be installed.

As of this post, I have called all customers with accounts on HAL and ZERO. Customers with accounts on the other machines MUST be called by tomorrow afternoon in order to give time for people to come in and remove any files they might need.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When calling, please let people know that they may have their account carried over to the spring if they would like. If a customer wants their account held over, please write HOLD in the margin next to their account info in the Logbook.

iMac in SSRL for NMC Overflow

Just a note:

The iMac in the SSRL Lab (Hurst 203) is available for NMC customers, when there is overflow in the NMC.

If customers are word processing, or working on small projects (i.e., Creative Suite, Dreamweaver, etc.), feel free to send them there - there is still staff down there to support them.

Even iMovie can be worked on down there. FCP and After Effects are the only programs that they cannot work on down in the SSRL.

"FLYING" Hi RES footage in the NMC

Brigid Maher's Editing class, edited the short film Flying this semester in lo res. Brigid has left the Beta tapes with us so that the students can come in and up res their sequences. To do this, it would be best if they made an appointment on HAL (since it is the only computer with a BETA deck). The tapes are at the desk in the bottom drawer and need to be given to Jason Diebler at the end of the semester for safe keeping. THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER, because they are the school's copies, we cannot lose them.

OK, thank you!
